Beta Terms of Use
Last updated: August 4, 2026
1. Purpose and operator
These terms govern access to the private beta of WhyBecause, an independent software project operated by Benjamin Lavi. The beta turns meeting transcripts into structured items that users can review and retrieve as shared organizational memory.
Contact: privacy@whybecause.io.
2. Acceptance and eligibility
By creating an account, joining a workspace or using the beta, you agree to these terms. You must be at least 18, have the capacity to accept them and, when acting for an organization, be authorized to bind that organization for its use of the service.
3. Beta service
The beta is experimental and may change rapidly. Features may be modified, limited, interrupted or removed. No service level, availability target or continued availability of a specific feature is promised during this phase.
The beta is currently provided without real payment. Plans, prices and AI Credits shown for testing or preview do not constitute a final commercial offer. Separate commercial terms will be provided before real payments are enabled.
4. Accounts and workspaces
You must provide accurate information, protect your authentication credentials and promptly report suspected access. Workspace owners and admins manage members, roles and permissions. Each user remains responsible for activity performed through their account.
5. Transcripts and uploaded content
You may upload only content you are authorized to process. The organization using the service remains responsible for informing participants, identifying an appropriate legal basis and complying with rules that apply to recording, transcribing and sharing a meeting.
You must not upload unlawful or unlawfully obtained content, or data whose processing is prohibited. Avoid sensitive or confidential information that is unnecessary for the intended use. Transcript retention depends on the plan and settings applicable to the workspace.
6. AI-generated output and human review
Summaries, decisions, actions, open topics, risks, quotes, participant matches and search answers are produced automatically and may be incomplete, inaccurate or ambiguous. They are not legal, financial, medical or professional advice.
Users must verify outputs, sources and attribution before accepting them or acting on them. Human review is part of the normal WhyBecause workflow and must not be bypassed for high-impact uses.
7. Your content and technical license
You retain the rights you hold in uploaded content. You grant only the technical rights needed to host, encrypt, analyze, transform, return and delete that content to provide the requested features. WhyBecause does not sell workspace content or use it for targeted advertising.
8. WhyBecause intellectual property
The software, interface, brand, copy, components and visual materials remain protected by applicable rights. Beta access gives you a personal, limited, non-exclusive and revocable right to use the service under these terms.
9. Prohibited use
- accessing an account, workspace, system or data without authorization;
- bypassing permissions, usage limits or security controls;
- disrupting the service, introducing malware or automating abusive requests;
- using the service for unlawful surveillance, discrimination or decisions about an individual;
- uploading content that infringes another person's rights or applicable law;
- reselling, copying or attempting to extract the service's code or mechanisms, except where mandatory law permits it.
10. Third-party services and availability
The service depends on providers for hosting, authentication, AI processing, email and payment testing. An outage, restriction or change affecting those providers may affect the beta. Reasonable measures are used to protect and restore the service, without guaranteeing uninterrupted operation or zero data loss.
11. Personal data and confidentiality
Personal-data processing is described in the Privacy Policy. For content uploaded by a workspace, the organization will generally act as controller and Why Because processes the data to provide the requested service.
12. Suspension and ending access
Access may be suspended for a security risk, unlawful use, infringement of another person's rights, a material breach of these terms or technical necessity. Where circumstances allow, notice and a reasonable opportunity to correct the issue will be provided.
You may stop using the beta at any time and request export or deletion through available controls or by contacting privacy@whybecause.io. Some information may be retained where required by law or a documented security need.
13. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, WhyBecause is not responsible for decisions made without verification from generated output, content uploaded without authorization or availability limitations inherent to a beta. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
14. Changes to these terms
These terms may evolve with the product. Material changes will be communicated by an appropriate method. If you do not accept a change, you must stop using the beta before it takes effect. New terms do not apply retroactively to an existing dispute.
15. Governing law and language
These terms are governed by French law, subject to any mandatory rules that apply. The parties will first seek an amicable solution. Otherwise, disputes are handled by the courts that have jurisdiction under applicable rules. If the two language versions conflict, the French version prevails.
